Britney: How long will it take to prepare for pointe ballet?
I’ve been taking jazz and tap classes for six years and have recently developed an interest in pointe ballet. I was just wondering how long I will need to take ballet to prepare and if my experience in other dance classes will help.

2 -3 years and a lot of practice in between
Not an easy question to answer. Ballet is very different from jazz or tap, most noticeably in the turnout of the feet, the “quiet” of the body, and the grace of the arms. If your legs rotate easily, you will progress faster. If your turnout is tight, you’ll have to keep stretching so you can achieve the graceful balletic lines. Girls usually do not start pointe work until they’re over 10, because the bones of the feet must be strong enough to hold them. If you’re disciplined and take a lot of classes in soft ballet slippers, you might be ready in a year. Go to a reputable ballet school and talk to a teacher who can help guide you through.Answer by carolinaenpointe!!!!!
2-3 years if your over 12.under 12 you will have wait until you’re 12,it hurts ALOT so be sure you know its something you want to do.ballet is very different from tap and jazz in alot of ways, one being you have to control your body all the time.this summer i had the privilege of going to a company out of state and work on dance as a summer camp and i took 1 stretch class 1 ballet 1 pointe 1 jazz and 1 tap…trust me they are very different,i wouldn’t know if your previous classes would help you in ballet, but i do know from my jazz and tap teacher that if you take ballet you’re tap and jazz improve very well…hope i helped:D
