Ella: How to become strong and felxible for ballet withou getting huge leg muscles?
Basically what i asked in the question title,
Professional ballet dancers dont have huge muscles as in wide ones, and im worried if i start working on my strength more i might get bulging calve and hamstrings?

Just stretch and stretch and stretch some more
you can basically only stretch and but don’t lie around for ages cause then you’lll get fat and it won’t matter if you’ve got bulgy muscles. But even if you do stretch you will get bigger muscles. but remember it’s the same for all ballerina’s so it shouldn’t effect you to muchAnswer by Nicola

Make sure to stretch alot.
And also, one time a teacher told me that, for example, when doing grand battement, you don’t want to put all of your effort into lifting your leg with your thigh. When you do that you tend to build up large muscles and your thigh and hamstring areas. Sorry if that doesn’t make sense, it’s hard to explain :p
