It doesn’t belong to McDonald, and it was just named that way. Over time, the logo and corporate identity has changed so now McDonalds is a statement of their global presence. It’s a company, they can name it as the see fit.Answer by emgee
Maybe McDondald sold it, and it no longer belongs to him.Answer by drumrchick
Because Americans are stupid. Have you ever known people that add an “s” to every business that doesn’t actually have one? That drives me crazy.
By the way, why didn’t you use an apostrophe in “isnt”?

Actually, it does have an apostrophe (correct spelling), which you will see if you go to the web site below (site name does not due to not being able to for site names). Wander around — apostrophe’s all over the place.Answer by chelle
Oddly enough, the founder of McDonald’s isn’t even someone named McDonald, it is like Roy Kroc or something like that. But I know what you mean, one of the things that drives me crazy when we go to our local Sonic burger is a sign as you are leaving the drive thru- “Sonic Thank’s You” . Dude!! There should totally not be an apostrophy there!Answer by manonthestreet1
Because it’s uses in the collective sense, as in referring to a family. It’s not being possessive of the restaruant, just stating the name of the family that owns it. When you’re referring to the Smith family you say, “The Smiths” not “The Smith’s”, unless you’re talking about their backyard pool which would be “The Smith’s pool”

Oh, and Ray Kroc did own it, but he bought the original place from …. you guessed it, a family name McDonald
