Searching_Lalita: Why is my husband getting shocked when trying to start the car?
Tonight car wouldn’t start. Earlier in the day it had started sluggishly, but no other warning signs. Husband saw that the battery was corroded. Wiped off battery and tried to start the car. Received moderate electrical shocks through the key when he tried to turn the engine over. What’s wrong?

Answer by speak upperhaps a diode in your rectifier in the alternator has burned out-thus enabling the power circuit to remain active-i’ve seen this a few times-so with the key in off position it appears to be off but in reality thecircuit is still live -thus draining your battery usually a lot slower than if left on at key in normal situation-however i’ve had small shocks in the engine bay area but never at the keyAnswer by [email protected]
Bad ground. Replace your cables. Make sure all ground straps are good.
