This is an average of one suicide roughly every two hours! The national rate of suicide (per 100,000 people) is 9.9.
The reason they do it: We don’t know for sure, because when youth die by suicide they take the answers with them. But teens who attempt suicide and survive tell us that they wanted to die to end the pain of living. They are often experiencing a number of stressors and feel that they do not have the strength or desire to continue living. We also believe that the majority of youth who die by suicide have a mental disorder, like depression, which is often undiagnosed, untreated or both.
It’s hard to deal with suicide because many do not share their feelings until they decide to finally kill themselves. Of course their are help services that troubled teens can be turned to. The best way we can prevent suicide in teens are to look for the warning signs: a prior suicide attempt, talking about suicide and making a plan, giving away prized possessions, preoccupation with death, signs of depression, hopelessness and anxiety, increased drug and alcohol use.
Answer by wiu_stuPsychology teahes us how the stages of life affect our entire bodies and in this respect to suicides of teens. These young people are faced with the decisions to stay at home or leave. let’s put it this way, society does not give any compassion for a young person whom is trying to be independent, society just pushes them into the machine of despair. The young people become frustrated and soon a clinical depression sets in and the rest is termination. A lot of programs are in motion to help young people but the programs only address the physical side of humanity and not the real terms of a psychosocial problem. We can all say “The road to good endeavors are covered with good intentions, but whom greases the wheels and fuels the vehicle? Maybe we haven’t figured that one yet!Answer by ferochira
Sorry to say, but society is doing all it can.
For starters, kids who’ve had a family member turn to suicide as an answer or way out, especially a parent, will find suicide the ultimate answer to all their problems/pain, these are the facts of several studies into teen suicide.
But i have experienced that in real life, i once cared for a woman whose husband committed suicide leaving 4 kids and her alone. Three of those kids grew to see his suicide as the ultimate answer to solving problems.
The biggest problem is that when the hormones start, it’s much like menopause, in the fact that it does not come on full fledged. It starts and stops slowly, then it finally will start a regular flow, but the body and mind need time to adjust to the hormones.
You know they talk about several mental illness’s, depression being i think more open. Depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, well with hormones kicking out and in, then adjusting to the regularity, “is” quite the imbalance, so it seems their mimicing a form of temperary mental illness. And depression is one of the main reasons for suicide.
Teens don’t give it time, they think their going to feel like that forever and don’t give it a chance, they also feel hopeless just like someone suffering depression. They also seem to magnify their problems, although i do admit their are some pretty pathetic homes and parents out there.
But right now the highest rate of suicides are men in their 40’s.
Society is doing what it can, if there was another way they’d be doing it.
I think it wouldn’t hurt to teach about the hormones affect on the mind and body during puberty in some health class on something, letting teens know this screwy stage in life will not last long and that things will get a whole lot better once it’s over, impress that it will end and the crappy feelings will “disappear” because they do. Just look how screwy some pregnant women get, crying over anything, moody, etc. same dam thing “hormones”.
