Sydney: When does the baby start to grow after you “do it”?
I was just wondering for example if you “did it” on October 1st and you know that the sperm got into you how long would the baby start to grow? Would November 1st be the first month? Or does it take the baby a long time to grow? I can’t word this correctly! I know that it takes the baby 9 months to grow.
If you know what I’m talking about please answer and I am old enough btw I’m actually 21.

A baby starts to “grow” as soon as the sperm penetrates the egg. So if you had sex on October 1 and the sperm penetrated your egg that same day, the baby would start growing on October 1.
Well, did you pay attention in sex ed very much??
Okay, after you have sex if you are ovulating and the sperm got to the egg and fertilized, then it takes 7-10 days for the fertilized egg to actually implant. During this time you may feel a slight cramping feeling, and/or have implantion bleeding. After implantation occurs, the fetus is called an embryo. This is when the baby actually starts growing. It does not even resemble a fetus or baby though! It actually looks more like a seahorse than a baby. The sex of the baby is already determined.
But for the nine months, this actually starts on the first day of your last menstrual cycle.

Week 1:
Once the egg and sperm unite, the cells begin dividing. They travel along your fallopian tube until they reach your uterus, around the fourth day after fertilization. The cells then multiply into the blastocyst: a round, solid, growing mass of about one hundred cells. The outer layer of the blastocyst becomes the placenta. The inner layer becomes what is known as the embryo.
Hope this answers your question.
Answer by ajkoolkatsThe egg (ovum) lasts for only 24 hours after being released from the ovary. Conception probably happen on the 2nd of October. To find out your due date take the date on day 1 of your last period subtract 3 months and then add 7 days. Example: April 1 subtract 3 months (Jan. 1) and add 7 days (Jan.7) is the due date. When conception takes place the cell will start to divide to make up all the different systems the body has. A normal term baby is 38 to 42 weeks.
