.: When did men’s tennis shorts start going down to the knees and who gets credit for starting the trend?
I was just on YouTube and looked at various tennis matches starting with 1990 and going up to 2000. It appears that around 1994/95 tennis shorts started getting longer. But it was mainly newer players that were wearing them, specifically I noticed Sampras and Agassi. Players who were still around from the 80s were still wearing fairly short shorts. Agassi started the trend of going away from all white, if I’m not mistaken. Does he also deserve credit for the length of shorts?

Nike/Agassi get credit for busting up the real short shorts of the 1980’s. During the 1990’s, US men still actually had a big time group of good tennis players (Agassi, Sampras, Courier, etc…..). Rafael Nadal was the one to introduce the clamdigger. I’ve never seen a man wear clamdiggers before him, on or off, a tennis court.
