jewels: Will wearing soccer cleats affect a tattoo on my foot 3 1/2 days after I get it?
I’m planning on getting a tattoo on my foot this Friday morning. I know tattoos scab up and that if the scab gets pulled off it affects the inking of the tattoo. I have soccer practice the following Tuesday in the late evening. By wearing my cleats, will the rubbing ruin the tattoo? Even if it’s wrapped?

well… as long as the skin isn’t peeling i think it’d be alright. but you want to keep it dry. use foot powder
if its wrapped it shouldnt’ affect it but it might be sore
just as long as somethings on it to hold it in place
and not move the tattoo around.Answer by techfan_jen_10
If your foot is wrapped it shouldn’t make a difference. Just to be sure ask the artist before you get it what he/she thinks about it…they usually know what they’re talking about, they do it for a living, right?Answer by akathepurplecow
you’re supposed to keep new tattoos moist from the outside, but i remember hearing that sweating tends to push the ink out… can this practice be skipped?
and even if it’s wrapped i tend to think the scab will be ripped and rubbed… probably not a good idea to risk it, right? don’t want a smudgy patchy tattoo that you have to get redone next month…
but yeah, the tattoo artist should cover this all – if they don’t, definately askAnswer by Tito
yea cleats are usually tight… might rub the tattoo…. wouldn’t recommend it. You’re not supposed to touch your tattoo….Answer by dynastychica
i have a foot tattoo and it takes about 2/3 wks for the tattoo to heal, i would recommend you wait until the soccer seeason is over.or where you can where flip flops for a wk or two….because although it may not hurt when you get it done your foot will be sore and swollen afterwards and your tattoo may not heal properly.Answer by ABCDEF U
To soon, its going to rub….even if its wrapped………Answer by jkc
I would wait and get the tattoo once you are completely done with soccer. Tattoos aren’t cheap – you don’t want to risk ruining the art you will have on you for a lifetime. Just not worth it. Plus, your foot will be very sore. Even if you wrap it – it will still rub.
Just be on the safe side and wait a little longer so you can give it the best chance to heal as possible.Answer by Nikki
My friend got a foot tattoo in the winter and obviously had to wear shoes afterward. THe sweat and pressure made the tattoo bleed – as in the colors bleed. now the tattoo is blurry and looks weird. I would suggest getting a foot tattoo in the summer when you can keep it out in the open and let it heal properly.Answer by somebody
when you get a tattoo on your foot you SHOULD NOT wear shoes or socks at all for 14 days. that means no shoes or socks at all, AT ALL. if you do you run the risk of getting an infection as well as having your tattoo heal very poorly and look like crap. if you can’t refrain from wearing shoes now then you really shouldn’t get a tattoo on your foot. foot tattoos are harder to heal than other ones anyway and you really do have to take good care of them. i have seen plenty of horrible looking foot tattoos (on this forum) because people have not followed healing instructions. it’s not worth it to get a tattoo that you’re not going to properly care for.Answer by purple hair
Don’t go to practice, i got a tattoo on my foot 2 days ago, luckly i have 1 pair of shoe’s which doesn’t cover it and i plan on living in those for the next 2 weeks, that’s mean’s no gym and sleeping with my foot hanging out the end of the bed! I don’t want to risk it getting infected or rubbing. (my foot is frezzing!)Answer by Evan
Oh god. Didnt your artist tell you the after care? Sheesh. Well, you cant sweat for at least 8 days after getting it, NEVER re-wrap your tattoo, and rubbing will irritate it and putting it in a shoe is upping its chance of an infection. Take a week off of practice hun, this will be scarred on your body for life so take the time to make sure it stays nice. (And no I am not messing with you, I am an apprentice)
