Abner Double Day is credited with creating the game. Though there are earlier accounts dating to the late 1700’s. It appears to have developed from the game “Rounders”.

It’s very difficult to say who invented baseball. Abner Doubleday is sometimes given credit, but that’s just a myth. Baseball more or less evolved out of a game called Rounders. The first official baseball rules were laid down in 1845.
