I know making love is different than having sex for me. (I have been maried for 5 years so I can talk about the topic, LOL.) When making love, pleasure isn’t important for most. If you are truly connected, then the pleasure is there. You aren’t striving for the “finale” just being with the person you love.Answer by Sov

Answer by AnonymousHaving been in a long-term relationship, it can be for any combination of the reasons above. You can’t expect every time be a profound emotional experience, and I think you’d feel worse in the long run if you wanted it to (i.e. disappointed). It’s surprisingly more comfortable in general to just take it for the physical pleasure sometimes. I don’t think that there’s any loss of love in just admitting to your partner that you’re both sexual beings and not over-dramatized characters from a romance novel.
On the other hand, you may sometimes have sex for just the emotional part and not be getting much out of it in terms of physical pleasure…sometimes you’ll do it just to do it, without much of either. I realize that’s not very helpful, but that’s what I’ve experienced personally.
Answer by luvtarebearWell, the term “make love” is just a nicer way of referring to sex for most people. it sounds better for someone to say “i want to make love to you” rather than “have sex with me” or whatever. No matter what people say its human nature to have sex even if there is no feeling there. Yes, in today’s society the feeling and intimacy of it all is a key importance. But the lust for it will always be there. even if someone is “making love” to you because they just love you and there not just doing it for the pleasure coming from it. the pleasure is always there and is what really makes people want it in the first place. thus the whole concept of masturbating. i am sure one doesn’t love them self so much that they want to “make love” to them-self’s… they want the pleasure.
