Katie S.: Whats the difference between cartilege piercing and Industrial piercing?
Okay well i know obviously the industrial piercing has two holes, but if i already have a cartilege piercing, cant i just get the other hole piercied and then put in one of the industrial bar type earrings? your cartilage piercing most likely isnt at the right angle to match up with the other side to get in a bar. you could always get your other ear.
there is no diff between cartilage and an industrial, because it is cartilage. what you most likely have is your helix pierced.
You could, technically. But it’s going to be best if you get the industrial done properly by a professional piercer. It’s really hard to line up the piercings so that the bar doesn’t cause any stress/pressure on your ear, and most hairdressers/stores in the mall can’t do that. (Or at least in my experience. I had my ears gunned 4 times before they were even. Eeesh)
Also, you’re going to have a better/easier healing if the piercing is done by a professional because a needle causes less damage to your ear cartilage than having a blunt stud shoved through it.
Answer by whitney.Well it all really depends where your cartilage piercing is placed. Chances are you won’t be able to change it into an industrial because the angle would be a little off, therefor stressing your ear, pulling on it, and just over-all making it bend in ways it’s not supposed to. If it’s angled wrong you can get like elf ears over the years. And btw the “industrial bar type earings” are called barbells (:Answer by Jenna H
Well you can’t just stick a barbel in the hole and hope it goes well. Chances are it will just cause problems because of pressure etc…. However if you do not want to get two holes done just one you can get a barbell specifically made to fit your piercings. You can go to your local piercer and talk to them about it. More then likely though because of the normal placement of a cartilage piercing it isn’t going to look exactly like your normal industrial.
