Serg82: Whats the best Tattoo set-up to go with?
Ok, Im going to start tattooing soon and I want to know what I should go for as far as a set up. I have heard many times that the internet is no place to buy set-ups because everything they offer is cheap and of not so professional quality. I want to go with something that good off the bat, not looking to spend more than liek 400 dollars, so if you know of something of quality that i can pick up for that much, let me knwo please!!!. EXPERIENCED TATTOOERS ONLY PLEASE.

You’re not going to like my answer, but I don’t care.
Why not get an apprenticeship and learn how to tattoo correctly before you just go buying a setup and tattooing people, potentially ruining them. Granted, it does put more money in us professionals pockets fixing scratchers screw ups, it’s still wrong.
You’re not going to get a good quality set up for no more than $ 400. My setup, 3 machines, dual power supply, tubes, tips, spare machine parts, inks, etc, I have over a grand invested in, not to mention the close to $ 400 a month I spend on keeping needles, inks, and other supplies well stocked for my booth (granted I have piercing and scarification supplies to buy too).
Any reputable supply house will only sell to you if you can supply a copy of the business liscense for the studio in which you work (which I know you don’t because if you did you would be asking your co-workers this question), and they are going to require a copy of your permit. Any supply house that will sell to you without those 2 things isn’t worth buying from.
Don’t tattoo people without being taught the right ways to do it. If you get reported to your local health department, you can be raided, shut down, and fined. It’s not a pretty price to pay and in some states carries a 90 day jail sentence. Additionally you could very well be spreading blood borne disease. If it can be traced back to you, every person in which you give something that is terminal (such as AIDS, HIV, etc) you can be charged with counts of attempted homicide for each person you spread it to. Something to think about.
Answer by MashaHere are some of the best tattoo picks so far in ’09.
1. Mural Style Designs.
Many people have been going bigger this year. Instead of just a single design, people are getting more elaborate by including multiple designs into an overall mural design. And some of these individuals are first timers. They are in for a big surprise when it comes time to get inked, as the work and time involved they usually are not fully aware of. And of course the pain isn’t just a first timers hour or two, but rather several hours of new found tattoo inking pain! Nevertheless many are content on going for it all at once with big mural style tattoo designs.
2. Star Tattoos.
Star tattoos are classic designs which continue to hold strong in 2009. A star tattoo works a few different ways. It’s good for the first timer who just wants to get a straight forward, relatively simple tattoo design, yet it is also good for the veteran tattoo enthusiast who appreciates the history and symbolism that the start tat provides.
3. Religious tattoos.
There seems to be a rise in religious tattoos, possibly due to tough economic times and those wanting a form of symbolism to ride through the storm. Usually during hard times people turn more heavily towards religion and this may be the case in the tattoo arts when it comes to choosing a design. Why not get a faith based design that inspires hope, encouragement, and positive belief? Many are turning to religious tattoos for those reasons.
