Melissa K: What type of cat gets adopted the least and what cat gets adopted the least?
Assuming all cats are the same age, what type of cat gets adopted the most and which kind of cat gets adopted the least. I heard that black cats get adopted the least due to a bad rep, while white cats get adopted the most. What types of cats do you usually get and why? What is one type of cat you will never adopt and why? I personally love black cats the most, but I don’t think I would get a purebread cat(they always get adopted).

Well, usually when you adopt kittens you go to a place where they have a bunch of kittens and you look at them. The ones that usually get adopted are the cutest and youngest, and usually the females. So the cute young ones, but the nice colored ones in general get adopted most, siamese, russian blue, etc. Anything that you can find en mass, orange cats, tabby, black, will get adopted least.
Sadly, the elderly cats get aqdopted the leastAnswer by cat lover
Well, the most would be a tabby, but that is a fur pattern, very common, and they come in many different colors. Yes, black cats are harder to adopt. Some of it comes from superstitions, and some of it comes from not being able to readily see them, especially if you walk around at night.
When I wanted to get another cat, I sought out a black cat, but none were available at that time.
I have multiple cats, and calico is the prevalent fur coloration.
While Persians are the most popular, I would not get a cat with a pushed in face. Too many potential respiratory problems.
My cats are all rescues, and long furred and short furred.
Answer by BiPetualI was a foster home for years, and I found that the shy cats and the black cats were the last to be adopted. Even old cats get adopted, as long as they don’t look old. So shy black cats were impossible to find homes for, and if you see an elderly, shy black cat, you’ve hit the unadoptable jackpot.
Good luck to you. I think it’s really cool that you are considering this as a criteria for finding a new cat.
Answer by Single Worker 1230Older cats, cats with medical and behavioral issues, and plain looking cats are the ones that are the least adoptable. A cat that hides in the back of the cage most likely will not get adopted. The cats that “sell” themselves are the ones that people adopt.Answer by kity love

Black cats and dogs don’t photograph as well as other colors, so they are less appealing when people look at them online, via Petfinder or whatever.
I personally don’t like cats with smushed-in faces, like some purebred breeds. I think it makes them look perpetually grumpy, and also causes them health problems.
I don’t adopt according to color. I adopt the cats that touch my heart in a special way. I have 4 cats.
Answer by kubism05When I went to the humane society to adopt a cat, a black cat chose me. I wasn’t particularly looking for a black cat. I was open to any color. Although I was looking for a boy with short hair and the black cat that chose me is a girl with medium-long hair. Anyway, the people at the shelter said that black cats ar less likely to get adopted.Answer by diane Catherine
