I honestly cannot think of any examples of Islam, as a religion and a movement, being peaceful. Even when Islam first came about, Mohammad was converting polytheists in Mecca to Islam under threat of death.

People of the Islamic faith did great advancements in academics, for example when they were trying to conquer spain. You have to realize, even with all the aggression of Islam, as with other groups, there will always be a group of people not interested in fighting, but rather in learning. The muslims of those times were great learners.

For 800 yeras it was the muslims who kept civilization alive after the romans and the greeks, Why do you think there no mention in history about europe untill 400 years ago.

Historically Islam has shown peace in too many ways to possibly list. Its sad that someone seems to need a list of billions of followers who do nothing but live in peace and live their lives 24/7 in submission.
Tell me this if Islam was not about peace then why are 1.6 Billion Muslim with the exception of less than 0.05% who are extremists, living peacefully? Why are we not all out committing acts of terror, carnage and distruction? Perhaps because our faith instructs us otherwise? Ya think????

The Muslims had one of the most peaceful and successful empires in history when they were in power they had laws that are still used today to keep peace. Muslim empires stopped many wars that were raging in Europe after the fall of roman empire. and actually that is more than any other religion when you look at other religions they never had great eras of peace like the Islamic empires.
