What laptop do you recommend for everyday use?

I would like the public input on a laptop. I have had a Toshiba Satellite for 5-6 years and its days are over and I’m looking for a new one. The Sony Laptops look sweet and then there is the HP and Dell which I think are almost the same.

I would like some of your input on a laptops if you have any good suggestions, please help me out, thanks.

If you’re not concerned with video games or video editing or anything art-related, then any laptop is fine. Buy something cheap.
People seem to like Dells, but know that they’re overpriced for what they are.

Laptops are tricky machines. I’ve had an IBM Thinkpad which has worked very well for 4 years now. It cost more than HP or Dell, but I think it was worth it.

Dependson what you do with it everyday. If you game, go Dell XPS or Alienware, if you’re just using it for the internet and basic word processing then go with anything cheap. Sony Vaio or Dell Inspiron are good for entertainment like watching movies.

HP all they way. Please don’t get a Dell you’ll regret it. I have an HP laptop for work. It runs so perfecty. And every company i’ve ever worked for always has this brand.

definitely hp……….dell has it’s problems…..nothing wrong with hp!

you might consider Acer.

And make sure you get Dual Core, or maybe 4.

Also similar specs on a £300 laptop at Staples. Yes that’s right Staples! Made by Asus don’t know specific name.

I would go to a custom place online that is not one of the “Big Names.” Sometimes the biggies like Dell, Acer, and HP/Compaq have deals if you don’t mind not customizing it.

Try something like CyberPowerPC. They have cheap prices, and you can choose what you want on your laptop so you can get rid of any parts you don’t need. They also include 1 year of free warranty, and lifetime phone support, so that’s good. I wouldn’t rely on the support though, but the prices are second to none.

Other online places to try that I hear are Alienware and NewEgg, you may want to check them out.

You might also be able to find a deal at BestBuy or Walmart as well, depending on the time of year. Bottom line is, you’re making a big investment, so shop around some. Remember they all use the same components mostly, so whoever is the cheapest, is probably the best.

*IMPORTANT* My one MAJOR recommendation would be to avoid AMD processors. They are great in desktops, but in laptops they tend to overheat and cause problems. I learned this the hard way.

The best brands around are Toshiba, Dell, Fujitsu Siemens.

If you want to go for looks…then go for HP but their designs aren’t as heavy duty.

So far I’ve always had Dell and NEVER had problems with it. I’d really get one of the brands: SPECS play the major role however!!!

I would give thew best suggestion out there… get a MacBook. They are so awesome. If you need Windows for whatever reason, then you should get the HP or Dell.

Like you said Sony VAIO is sweet, yes every one will say WOW!!
But the Most Important is The Components and of course Multi Purpose.

At least the MINIMUM you should see and checked.
