starnold07: How do I get a new video driver for my computer?
I accidentally deleted the video driver on my computer. When I start it up, it says (in found new hardware) “VGA Compatible Video Controller.” I’m then prompted to locate a video driver to run it with. The problem is, I don’t have any drivers. I’m stuck in 800×600 with 16 colors. I’ve tried downloading drivers, but I can’t get them to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My computer is a Dell Optiplex GX260 running Windows 2000 Professional.
I’m pretty sure my graphics card is made Intel if that helps, I can’t get the shortcut to open.
In System Information when I click on display it says no display information.

Downloading is one of the free and cheap ways…… you can go buy one if it makes you happy with less problems…
First stop is finding out what graphics card you have and then heading to the correct website to download the latest drivers.
www.ati.com
www.nvidia.com
These are the main ones but it will depend on the make of your card.
