Depends on the bird. Are you gonna give it 100% attention. no tv, not much radio?
A large parrot is not the best first bird for fun. They are noisy, messy, need a specific diet and need a lot of attention. Try something easier and quieter first maybe a cockatiel, a parakeet or “hand” parrot. Although they eat a similar diet. They aren’t so high maintenence.Answer by You Really Need K

The larger parrots are easiest to teach tricks and talk, but they are not for a beginning bird owner. If you have experience with birds then it all depends on what you want to teach your bird. Macaws are better with tricks, african grays are better talkers. Cockatoos ooze personality. Keep in mind though that getting one of these birds is no guarantee that they will talk or do tricks each bird is individual and it also depends on the consistency and amount of training you do with the bird. If you don’t have experience with birds then I would reccomend a smaller bird. Cockatiels are good for beginners, and they can learn simple tricks and whistling (my Cockatiel Dexter whistled the Andy Griffith theme) and you could hear him say words with his whistles) With any bird that you decide to get be sure to do your research. Any bird will require a lot of attention and care. Good luck finding a friend!
