What kind of eye exam is administered to those interested in being a military fighter pilot?

Don C: What kind of eye exam is administered to those interested in being a military fighter pilot?
Do they do a standard eye exam or do they also check to see if you have visible eye markings from Lasik surgery?

They will scan your eyeballs for any irregularies. A fighter pilot is entrusted with billion-dollar equipment and must have perfect vision.

to be a military pilot in the airforce its 20/70 correctable to 20/20 and in the USMC and navy its 20/40 correctable to 20/20 with surgery or contacts i think contacts

I’m not making fun of your question but it brought back to mind what my grandfather told me about the draft and enlistment.
He told me that there was somewhere in the neighborhood of three hundred men in for their enlistment physicals and only two Doctors
doing the exams. He said that to hurry and muster them through the
examination they had a simple procedure. They had the draftee’s strip down to their shorts and stand in line. One at a time they called each man into the room. There was the Doctor and one chair in the room.
Once you entered the room you were told to remove your underwear
go the chair and place it in the center of the room, laying your underwear on the seat as a cover and sit down..then you had to put your underwear back on and place the chair against the wall. Once you did this you pass the physical and all you needed was a uniform training and shots. The philosophy behind this was that; once entering the room you obeyed the commands given you…you could hear,see
and understand, bend and flex and while nude they saw that all body parts were there and the mind state of the draftee,by obeying, was that you were trainable to be a soldier.

To be sure you are given a thorough eye examine and your depth preception and lateral sight is checked along with any glucoma or other
eye disease that you may not realize you have. Those jets are expensive and even though they can be replaced at great cost, your life can’t be replaced at any cost.
