Sharna: What is the smartest parrot in the world?
My friend is looking for a parrot but he wants a smart one, he doesn’t care how much it costs as long as it is smart.

Many species of birds are highly intelligent. All species of parrots are very smart. They may show their intelligence in different ways. Greys and Amazons are great talkers. Cockatoos and Blue Throat Macaws are very mechanically inclined and can escape from many cages. Other species are intelligent too. Corvids, though they are not parrots, are also highly intelligent. Crows and Ravens are know for there use of tools and even wild crows are able to recognize human faces.
The smartest individual may have been Alex and African Grey. He was called the Einstein of parrots. He also underwent intensive clinical schooling for many years. Alex has past away and there are other birds in the program. I assume that one of them might be considered the smartest bird in the world and they are also Greys. However, if another species had undergone the same training then we might consider them smarter.

I tend to believe that the Amazon, African Grey,Mynahs and also the Eclectus’ are very smart.. I have a couple of each as well as other birds and these are very smart and pick up words quickly..
My biggest talkers are my Congo African Greys,Timneh African Grey, Blue Fronted Amazon,Orange Wing Amazon, Red Lored Amazon,Mexican Redheaded Amazon,Male and Female Eclectus, MaCaw, Cockatoo and my Mynahs, BUT my Mexican Redhead and the Red Lored do not talk as much as my others.. I guess they can learn if they want..
