Average Misanthropic: What is the difference between divorce and annulment?
For of all, I hate divorce and I fear if I married one day, I’ll get divorced and lose what I worked hard to get since the US court system is gender biased.

My parents have been going through a nasty divorce for almost 2 years and my dad says men are typically screwed after the divorce.

Would it be better if a couple had an annulment instead of a divorce?

A divorce is the termination of a marriage that did exist. An annulment is the undoing of a marriage as if it never existed. An annulment is only available under limited circumstances.

After 2 years your not eligible for an annulment

from a religious point of view, the annulment means the marriage was never real to begin with, so there isn’t a divorce.

i was raised in a religious family, and after going through 14 stupid years of senseless marriage, i now have no reason to believe in anything, so if we end up getting a “legal” divorce it won’t really matter. at this point, i don’t wear my wedding ring, i don’t think about other women, i just want to sit and drink a beer in freaking peace.

if there was a god, he wouldn’t do this to us. nothing is real. don’t bother worrying about divorce… you’re going to get emotionally kicked in the nuts either way.

Annulment must be done in less than a month after the wedding. Basically, its for couples who thought it would be fun to marry someone they just met while on vacation then wake up the next morning and think ” oh what have I done?”
