The real brownies ♥ ™: What is the difference between dating and a relationship?
My friend told me, him and this girl are dating but are not in a relationship. He said they don’t have sex, but I know they kiss. He use to like me(we kissed), but we decided to be friends. He tried to come over to my apartment at 2 am, but I didn’t allow that because it was too late and he is dating her. So what is the difference? I never heard of dating and not being in a relationship or leading to one.

Some people “date” in that they see each other and can have romantic and somewhat sexual relations, but are not exclusive. When it’s exclusive, then, I believe, it becomes a relationship. Don’t ask me to make sense of it, I don’t believe in it, myself, but it’s what a lot of people do.
sounds like dude was just trying to smash.Answer by rollitup.
Dating is casual. Like nothing serious and you can easily bounce back to friendship. Relationships are where the emotions start to come into play and you get serious.. you know? Dating is much more ‘surface material’ kinda like someone you turn to and its not someone you would confide in or where you really get to know someone.. it could lead to a relationship though if they start feeling something for one another when they’re together. It happens a lot, god dont you ever watch movies! 🙂Answer by Brett S
well it sounds like he is a little messed up in the department of that but when i hear dating and relationship i get this:
1) dating: spending time with someone you are interested in to get to know that person better for a relationship
2) relationship: a commitment to a person to not date no other person besdies that person and to become closer as time goes on.
now the kissing during dating is a feeling thing and ive dont that once and its not bad but really before it gets more than kissing need to be in a relationship.
and the whole coming to ur aparmtnet and you saying no was the right thing bc what guy would do that when they are in a relatinship.
hope that hleps

Beats me. In this instances, I would just stand back and watch it unfold. If he’s trying to come over and visit you while he’s supposedly dating her, then I wouldn’t bet on things lasting too long between them.Answer by Prakash Lamichhane
Dating is the initial step of the relationship but relationship is the advance for the relation.Answer by loveALWAYS
I’d say that “dating” is testing the waters without being committed. You can see other people while dating a person and it won’t be considered cheating.
Being in a relationship is the opposite. You’re committed to an extent and having another romantic relationship is “cheating.”
Answer by ElizabethFor me, dating has always been like “test-driving” possible partners, whereas the relationship happens after you decide which partner is the best for you.
Note that when I was younger, it was definitely not OK to date a bunch of guys all at once, because if you went on a real date with a guy it meant that you were “with” him, without question. Once I got out of college, though, and became more serious about my relationship possibilities, I dated a lot before deciding to be in a relationship with one guy. There were weeks that I would have dates with three or four different men.
It’s the best way to get to know a person to the point where you can reasonably decide if he or she is right for you. Dating (as an adult) is a precursor to a relationship. If you are not yet an adult, your mileage may vary.
Answer by James lDating = you can kiss other chicks while dating another one. (it is ok that is what why it’s call dating.
Relationship= cheating if you do what dating does.( also commitment and some bull.)
so there you go.
