Kitty Kattt: What is the Difference between a pinna piercing or cartilage piercing on an ear?
I’m thinking of getting my ear pierced this weekend and I’d like to get one in the top corner of my ear wear cartilage piercings usually are but, what is the difference between a Pinna piercing and a cartilage piercing?

Nothing will hurt you at all. They’re both pretty much the same. Unless you have a medical condition in your ear you’ll be fine. If your so worried about it ask the person before you get it pierced.
A cartilage piercing is any piercing that goes through cartilage, so on the ear that’s everything that isn’t lobe. Your pinna is technically the entire visible part of your ear (the “outer” ear), but often a high up piercing through the outer rim of cartilage is called a Pinna piercing.
Most would call what you’re referring to a “Helix” piercing.Answer by lynx131313
I have been a body piercer for almost 9 years now and never heard the term Pinna Piercing before now so after having looked up what a “Pinna Piercing” is I realized that is because no one in my geographical location uses the term because there is no reason to have two names for the same piercing, all a Pinna is, is a cartilage piercing generally placed on the outer conch near the top of the ear. So there is no difference.
