What field is best to go into to study multiple religions, sects and mythologies?

Gio: What field is best to go into to study multiple religions, sects and mythologies?
Just out of curiosity, if I wanted to study various different religions, say Judaism, Christianity, and Hinduism, professionally, what field would I best study in college? I would be interested in their beliefs, history, origins and influence, and practitioners/geography, as well as comparing them. At first I thought comparative religion but now I’m thinking it would be religious studies. Like I said, this isn’t actually for college or anything, I just want to know.

Either Religious Studies or Comparative Religion. The important thing is to consider the department at the specific school where you’d like to study–what courses do they offer, who teaches them, what are the research interests of the faculty members, etc. These are more important than the name given to the department.
