: What exactly is a contract marriage and is it treated like a real marriage?
My boyfriend wants to get a contract marriage and then a real marriage once he is out of the army. I have no idea what a contract marriage is and I’m looking for some answers. Do I get to go where my soldier does? (deployment excluded of course) Is it treated like a real marriage? Should I even go along with his plan?

Yes, it is like a real marriage. It’s also called prenuptial agreement.
You are getting married under conditions which he sets. If you agree to it, it can be terminated at any time under his conditions which the contract stipulate.
Should you? it depends. Sound to me like he has certain conditions in mind and “expect” you to follow them or else.
Is it a good idea? It all depends on the conditions he sets and if you’re in agreement with that condition.
Marriage is a contract, which you agree to abide by the vows you take…you also sign papers and have to get a license in most States.
If you love him, and he you, go through the actual contract with him and see what it stipulate.
If there is anything that you feel is biased against you, ask for revision.
Marriage needs to be balanced between compromises and each individual’s needs in the relationship.
Answer by Kristy ElkinsFrom my understanding what ive read…a contract marriage is basically just that…a contract. Its still a marriage BUT you can put stipulations on the marriage. here are a few links to some info I read on it.
