How do you respond to the idea that: “God is Love”?

Edward N: How do you respond to the idea that: “God is Love”?
“You shall know them, if so be they have love for one another”
Whoever has love in them, has God in them.
There are those whose point of view is positive, with all the good results it brings. There are those whose view of life, the world about them is negative. Full of doubt, mistrust, suspicion.
If “faith” is an aberrant mental condition, BRING IT ON. Life would not be worth living without it.

It is easy to confuse the emotion of love and happiness with God but you have no need to attach something outside of yourself to an explanation for the cause of your inner emotions. Love and happiness are certainly a spiritual uplifting but why call it God. It is YOU.

The jury is still out on the question of Faith as a mental condition but that doesn’t change the fact that Faith is little more then irrational belief in supernatural entities. So why would any clear thinking person want to ‘bring it on’. That’s like taking a leap of logic just so you can feel comfortable about the suffering in the world.

I disagree. Just because you are negative doesn’t mean you don’t believe in God. I am very negative and pessimistic ect, but I believe in God and that God is Love. The thing is, most of the people in world have shunned God, so it would make sense that most of the world doesn’t have Love.

Expanding on the Love principle, in Eastern Christian theology, Heaven and Hell are states instead of places. The reason is Heaven and Hell are just how you respond to Love. Heaven is when you were good, and so you enjoy God’s love. Hell is when your bad, and so your guilt feels like fire. Its like if I beat a girl but she still loved me. The guilt from her still loving me would feel like fire. Multply that by infitity

I think you have a very narrow view of life and ascribe anything you think worthwhile to your “faith” while ignoring that those things are just part of human nature.

On the contrary, life is full and satisfying without faith.

If having love for one another is how you know Christians, there are very few Christians in the world. You see the mistrust and suspicion of fundamentalists on display every day here, along with their hate for anyone not part of their little circle.

I think that this is complex issue!
as all man kind falls short of the glory God
but it was Thur God love that gave us saver life’s
as if all man kind were to ACT barbarians
Life would not be worth living !!,
And Thur faith that we see miracles of God
that continually refills us with love
