Big W: What are the good reasons to not follow politics?
I’m a Libertarian and my girlfriend is a neo-conservative. We almost broke up over an argument about the Iraq War. I realized afterwards what a waste of time and energy it is to argue politics, especially when the status quo sucks for almost everyone. Im 26 and I know for a fact that my generation will be making the real changes in a decade or two, so why should I lose sleep over things I cant change? Any thoughts?

A relative of mine and I were talking about that the other day. We follow the news and we seem to be angry and ticked off, frustrated and depressed a lot.
We decided that people who don’t follow the news seem to be happy and clueless. We thought wouldn’t it be nice to be that way?
But then, we decided, no, we’d rather know what was going on.
Answer by CharticMany people like you are not watching the news but that doesn’t mean it is a good idea. It is good to stay informed about what is going on so when you are voting you actually know what is happening and who you should vote for.
But I would like to stop watching the news so I could stop seeing the Republicans trying to ruin the country at every chance they get.
Answer by Boomer WisdomIgnorance is bliss.
However, it is your duty as a citizen to keep informed and make informed decisions when you vote. Otherwise the Ignorance will become slavery to a tyrannical government.
The trick is to keep ones sense of humor, understand how politics has operated throughout history, and keep your blood pressure under control.
Answer by m4atllawYou two should realize you still half at least 50% of the same opinion since Libertarian and Conservative have overlap. So, you should both be glad you have reasoning and understanding of what politics is and not to see it as a burden. Being apathetic is the more worse evil.

I haven’t even watched the clip yet I just like everything they say so figured it would give you peace. I could in no way be involved with a person who is a neo-con, though so be careful you are young & might meet someone else & be better off without this difference.Answer by thedude jr

Politics can be a frustrating, disappointing and uncertain pastime. By not getting involved, your opinion is not even considered.Answer by stratm663
interesting….sounds like the issue is really no real willingness to be open minded about each others opinions..and the validation forming those opinions.
just think about that for a minute, and then listen to the the vitriol being spewed by every side…and yet, there is much more in common than the extremists think.
yes the squeaky wheel gets the oil..the FIRST time…then it gets replaced….
