Grasshopper: What are the biblical requirements for a marriage?
Why do Christians think that a legal government document is necessary for a biblical marriage?
There are no verses requiring a marriage certificate from the government (legal marriage)
Also, there is no requirement for a marriage ceremony in the Bible.
So, is sex the only requirement for consummating a marriage, besides telling others that you are married? For example, some cultures outside the Jewish culture did not have wedding ceremonies. That did not make them any less married than Jewish couples.

In one side there must be a man. In the other, one or more women. They all must eat a toad as sacrifice, then dance three days round the mount Sinai, or any other elevation starting with an S. On the fourth day, all members of the family, including the priest, should fast for the next forty days, with exception of pig’s meat, that is allowed. One year after the ceremony, groom and bride(s) will be buried, to check if God approved the union. So far, no couple was of God’s pleasure.
The apostle Paul instructed at Romans 13:1 to ” be in subjection to the superior authorities”. These authorities are the governmental rulers. So therefore, one has to comply with the laws of the land where that person lives and what that law requires for marriage.Answer by Rick
Marriage is an agreement to be sexual partners you do not need papers from the state or a blessing from the Church.
