You may change your mind over the next few years, and prices of tattoos will be different then. Don’t worry about it for now.

Answer by princesaajessby the time your 18 its gonna be a different price and different places to go to and you might not even want one anymore. wait to ask this question when your 18 : )Answer by Holly the Kitty
You will change your mind by the time you’re 18.
The pain ranges, on some it hurts or some it doesn’t.
God knows how much they’ll cost in 5 years, can’t tell you.
Answer by A. RedzI agree with the others, but….I will answer some of your question since you asked. Yes it will hurt, it all depends on the size of the tat and where on your body you get it. It also depends on the person. Me, I have six tats that I designed myself, and they seemed to hurt less with each one. The last one I got was on my outer thigh and it hurt alot. The pain only lasts for about 15-30 minutes and you will be happy you are getting a tat so you won’t pay too much mind to it.
The prices vary greatly! When you turn 18, or 16 in some states, be sure to check out your prospective parlor in detail. Ask around, check with the board of health, make sure they have a current license, and are clean, all that good stuff. I can’t recommend any places in Cali, but try to stay away from vacation and tourist areas, they seem to charge alot more since many tourists will get a tat to ‘remember their vacation’. Also, don’t bother going to any of the places that have reality tv shows, because I am sure they charge out the a$ $ . I knew someone that got a large colored tat on their leg from on of the ones on tv and it sent her to the emergency room due to it getting infected. Now the colors probably won’t heal right and it probably will look like crap.
So check out the local places, when you are of age, and check them out really well. If you get a bad feeling about any place, just leave.
Be sure you are clear on what you want and where you want it. It is for the rest of your life…it will be there when you are dressed for summer, going to the pool, on your wedding day, when you are at a job interview and when you are old and wrinklely!! So choose wisely!! Can’t stress that enough. Also, you will have to take care of it for the rest of your life or else it will look like a faded, blurry piece of crap. Have you ever seen people with a tat that looks blue and you can’t tell what the heck it is?? That’s because they didn’t care for it correctly, i.e. use sunblock when out doors.
The place I go to is very reasonable, a medium colored tat costs about 60-70 maybe less.Answer by clueless
The first time I hear the pain is almost unbearable.
Your ideas may change by the time your 18Answer by Mika
You have to be 18 to get a tattoo in California, regardless of parental consent. It’s illegal to tattoo minors.
Regarding price: It is going to change in the next 5 years, so I would research costs when you get closer to 18.
Tattoos hurt a bit, but its definitely tolerable. The pain feels like someone scratching you when you have a sunburn. It’s more annoying than anything.
Also, please reconsider getting a playboy bunny. Those are so common. Get something that means something to you, something you are passionate about. Take the next 5 years to get the perfect design.
Answer by mrwizard310Typically the age is around 18 and as far as cost, it depends on the artist. There is an old saying in the tattoo world that goes “Good tattoos aren’t cheap and cheap tattoos aren’t good”.
But, for some guidance, a cheap tattoo artist probably charges around $ 60/hr and a more established and sought after artist can go for $ 120/hr on up… the guy that’s doing my back piece charges $ 150/hr. Kat Von D? A lot…
I would guess that a medium sized start would be int eh neighborhood of around $ 90 or so and a bunny, probably that much or a bit more. Good luck!!
Some final pieces of advice, and I preface this by stating that I would be the last person in the world to try to talk you out of getting a tattoo, take your time tattoos tend to last for a while so don’t rush into anything. I was 22 when I got my first.
One last piece of unsolicited advice, don’t get a tattoo on your wrist, or any other place that you can’t cover easily until you’re pretty much established in a career and know that your job will be cool with visible tattoos.
Answer by InkyCherryby the time you are 18, the cost of tattooing will probably have changed, and no doubt so will your tastes… some places allow you to be 16 with parental consent but most places its 18. the pain varies from person to person. My wrist tattoo hurt alot more than any of them on my back did and i had to get it done twice because it was stuffed up the first time. Just be patient you have a long time to decide what you want and what studio to get it from.
