: How can sending someone to jail for puffing a little pot, be considered “tough love”?
It seems like this “tough love” actually just makes it harder for people to get a job later in life, because it’s put on your record. Who is actually harmed other than me when i smoke pot? I don’t buy mexican pot. So obviously i’m not contributing to the drug war. I want to know, who is hurt?
Throw someone in jail for only hurting themselves. God oh mighty… I can’t help but think that religious fanatacists are perpetuating this prohibition for something as innocuous as pot.

What the hell are you even going on about, in most places its not even a felony to smoke it unless youve got an ounce or more on you.
PS, regardless of what kind of drug you buy you are feeding the flames of our “american” drug war.
and oh yeah the bible actually talks about using hemp and so on, and if you are such a big advocator for its decriminalization become someone that only uses to medicate not just to selfishly indulge. Damn you kids need an education.
innocuous as pot.????….. I fire every pot head I find at work…. They are lazy, unmotivated and unimaginative… Plus they call in sick more…. Who is harmed?… Everybody else that has to pick up the slack….. Funny thing with all these dopers is they think “everybody else has the problem”…..Answer by PearsonFace
whats the real question? If weed was as legal as a tomato it would hurt the economy because everyone would grow it making it worth less and less. If you can’t get a job because you have a weed arrest then you are retarded or believe everything on TV, its not that hard to get a job. Touch love would be smoking all that persons weed when you find thier stash and then say fuck you in their faceAnswer by Amanwithaproblem
Well a lot of people don’t always learn by just being told. This is wrong to do. Smoking Pot is wrong. So sometimes people have to find out for themselves and face consequences the HARD WAY!! Tough Love Sometimes people have to learn that way because they won’t listen.:)Answer by WhiteFox
I reccomend that you watch ‘The Union: The Business Behind Getting High’ and also ‘Super High Me’. It’s hard to find truthful resources relating to pot so these docos are a must-have for any stoner. The first looks mostly into the business, focusing on the industry in BC and the second is basically the same as Super Size Me but about pot smoking rather than eating Maccas. What you’re saying is basically true, but you won’t find real answers here because it’s such a taboo topic. The biggest reason as to why marijuana was prohibited in the first place is because the pot crops were putting pollies with their paper crops out of business. So they started pumping out propaganda and it’s been a snow ball effect since. The majority of people nowadays are too set in the anti-pot attitudes because they largely don’t know any better. Actually, the majority smokes pot, but those who do are mostly too terrified of the repercussions of voicing up because the Government labels them criminals. You and I are only criminals because our Governments give us that stamp…it’s unjust and it’s sick, but it’s how it is. Best advice to give you for now is to master being subtle. Keep your stash hidden and if you’re handling big amounts, split them up and try not to get caught with any baggies. Where I live, if you get caught with under 1 gram you get off no dramas. If you have a large amount, they can do you for intent to distribute and that’s when it goes on record.
Definitely check out those docos, you’ll be thanking me mentally when you do.
Answer by Cathy MonroeNobody goes to jail for smoking pot anymore. It’s practically decriminalized. In cities like SF, NY …, people openly smoke pot right in front of the cops and nobody blinks an eye. So I don’t know what you’re talking about.
That being said, it’s still considered “illegal”. So if you have to resort to an “illegal” drug to make your life tolerable, you may want to see a therapist. Maybe you hate your job, maybe you’re in a crappy relationship, maybe you don’t have friends, maybe you’re doing crappy in school … reasons are endless. But there is something missing in your life – that is why you need that illegal substance to make your pathetic life semi tolerable. And if you grow your own pot, you’re in a small minority. Most pot smokers are directly contributing to the Drug war. I’d say 99% +. Also, who knows what you’re *truly* smoking. There’s no nutritional label on your joint. There is no Government oversight. All you know about pot is that it is illegal. Nobody ever sent it to the lab and nobody put a label on it. But you put it in your body – that’s more risky than jailtime.
