Onyx: What is the appropriate way to reject help from a co-worker, especially it’s personal?
I have a slight medical condition. It’s not life threatening or anything, it affects me only about 5-6 days a year, when it does I can’t go to work, but I have gotten used to it.
Recently this co-worker from another department heard about this, he too have this illness and has been forcing his remedies, doctors and all the help on me!
I appreciate and thanked him, but he is still doing so. What is the right way to handle this, how can I let him know I appreciate his concern but that’s it?

Thank him for the advise but, you are happy with your doctor and the treatment you have.
You have absolutely no obligation to take this man’s advice, or even to listen to it.
Politely but firmly inform him that while you appreciate his concern, this is a private matter and you’re not comfortable discussing it with a coworker. Then say thanks and walk away.
If he tries to talk to you about it again, just change the subject. It doesn’t even have to be subtle. Just as long as you’re constantly polite/friendly.
Answer by ramiI wouldn’t decline his help. It will poison your reputation at work and probably torpedo your career.
Just grin and bear it. Pretend to be appreciative. Write him thank you notes. Just let him feel like he’s helping. Your investment will yield dividends.
