Rena S: How to get mt pc hooked to wireless at motel,no router in room?
I have my desktop computer with me at a motel they have wireless but they don’t have a router in my room. I need to know what I need to get hooked to their wireless
I have no where to hook up a usb the only line I have in this room is a telephone line.

A wireless card or USB dongle. Get one that does 802.11b and 802.11g.

a wireless dongle in your PC and maybe a account with there provider

1. Make sure that desktop has hardware for a wireless connection.

2. Most Hotels/Motels have an unsecure network or they give you a security key they give you at the front desk. Alot of them just assume you know how to connect to a wi-fi network.

You may have to go the the front desk and get them to print up an access code that’s good for the time you’ll be there. I think they do that so they’re not a “hotspot”; they don’t want people parking in their lot just to use internet.

Go to the front desk, they usually have a disk you can have for a deposit. You get the deposit back when you return the disk…usually around $ 20.00
