I am considering using birth control, but not because I am planning on being sexually active anytime soon. I want to use it for shorter, lighter periods and possibly a reduction of acne breakouts. I’m not exactly sure how to bring this up with my mother since I am 16 and afraid she might take it the wrong way and think I am promiscuous. Any tips would be helpful. Thank you in advanced.

Start talking to her about your acne and your painful/problematic periods and just say something like “Oh, I heard that the pill helps with these symptoms” and ask her what she thinks. That way she would know why you want it. Don’t be scared.
