oohtea!: How old should a kid be before you start taking them to the cinema?
My nephew is only a little baby at the moment but I go to the cinema almost every week and I’m looking forward to when he’s old enough to bring along with me.
But how old is old enough. The first film I saw at the cinema was Jurassic park when I was 6, I wasn’t scared of the t-rex but my older brother was.
I understand that it mostly depends on how mature the child is and what type of film your seeing. I saw some very terrified looking young children at dark knight the other day.
I’m guessing that 4 is about old enough to see a film aimed at young kids and maby 6 to see other films depending on maturity of the child
But what do you think is about an average suitable age to take a child to the cinema?

I would probably say 8. That’s when I started taking my cousin and he loved it. He mostly watch animated movies, but I would say that 8 is a good age. 🙂Answer by Basketcase 2
Four is about right as long as he’s able to sit for long enough, some children just don’t have the attention span at that age.
Pick something mild to begin with…alll that darkness and noise can be scary
