Jin Boo: Why can a sperm donor not pay child support but having intercourse your responsible for the child?
To me it makes no sense. A child is born and there is only one parent. If a child is conceived through intercourse then the parent (usually the father) has to pay. In both case be it artificial insemination or intercourse, a child is born. Why not allow both to have the option to not pay.

They do have an option, the parent can sign over parental rights. Same thing that a sperm donor does basically.
But the parent that does this, will have no say in that Childs future and the other parent doesn’t even have to update about the Childs where-abouts.

Because if you are having intercourse with a person you should be protecting yourselfs from having a child and it is your responsibility if a child results from it. Asperm donor has no physical ties to the person being inseminated.

with artificial insemination the “father” does not have to pay because he did not physically have intercourse with the mother. the mother went about getting pregnant that way knowing that the child will not have a biological father and forfeits all the plus sides of having her babies dad in her life such as child support. in most cases the woman has a man in her life willing to be the father. however, she cannot produce a child with that man. so the child does have a supporting father role, but not a bio-father.
a man who _chooses_ to have sex with a woman knows that unprotected sex leads to pregnancies. he must pay for his child or simply use protection.

A sperm donor helps people who can’t get pregnant naturally conceive a child. They do it the right way where the donor donates his sperm to a proper facility. This person that donates isn’t knocking up every stupid girl that thinks sex is fun, they are helping a couple or single person who wants a child – they are choosing to have a baby. Therefore the child created through artificial insemination is a wanted child and they want to raise it theirself as their own. Most sperm donors are unknown anyway.
A child conceived through intercourse should be the responisbilty of BOTH because both were having sex together and should be aware of the consequences. Why should all the pressure be of the mother. Just because she carries the child for nine months, the father still created the baby and is half of him. If the guy carried the baby, would that change the whole situation? They should pay for their child. Both should.

because the women is choosing to be impregnanted and has no relationship with the mother nor had any relations with her
A sperm donor is providing a service. State laws protect such donor only if they go through a sperm bank. A sperm donor who does not go through a sperm bank can be made responsible for paying child support for the child.Answer by Sunny
because they sign legal documents giving away all rights of the child before it’s even born.Answer by StinaChurchy
If you are talking about anonymous donors at a sperm bank, they have no legal obligation to care for the child. They usually don’t even know the child exists. Most women that seek this route usually have enough support from themselves, relatives, anyway.
During intercourse, the father is known. He should be legally involved with raising the child, unless he terminates parental rights.
Artificial insemination is a medical procedure. Intercourse is an act between two known people. Yes, a baby may result from both, but it seems that you are comparing apples to oranges here.
