I’m writing a book report and I need to know if this phrase makes sense.
This book makes you emotional with love for Carrie’s departure from Francie. <—— Does that make sense??

Depends on how it’s presented. For example, “Mr. Ed saw her and became emotional with love” would work.

The teacher will understand what you mean, but it sounds odd, so it might be better to put something like:

Carrie’s departure from Francie will inspire intense emotions in readers.
