My cat is pregnant and due in about a week. I was wondering about how many kittens she may have. I have heard both stories, that first mothers have bigger, and smaller litters. How many do you think is average for a first time mother??

between 2 and 5 would be the average for a first litter, you didnt say how old your cat is.

theres no definite answer really, it dont matter if its her first or 500th litter, its just nature, like a human giving birth to twins or quadruplets….they may have anywhere from 1 to 12 in a litter…my cats due any day now and if you are able to touch her belly, you can feel the babies move…this is my cats 4th litter, she had 3 the first time, 8 the second, one last time and this time it look like she might break her record. its all up to nature…theres no set pattern to litter size.

I had a couple of cats have one litter each both had 4 kittens. Both healthy strong farm cats.

I was very disappointed as the first one had her kittens on Christmas Eve and I wanted to call them the names of all the reindeer. I didn’t get enough kittens though!

Cats have aprox 5 kittens, it all depends on the size of the parents. My friend a piece of advice SPAY or NEUTER your pets, there are millions of stray animals in the world and in shelters and nobody adopts them. Help them by operating yor pets, do not bring more unwanted babies to this world. please 🙁

Well about 3 kittens is what they usually give birth to. My cat also gave birth for the first time, she gave birth to three. Hope everything goes well for the first mommy.. It will congrats to her and to you.. They look soooooo cute when first born.

My cat just had kittens and she had 5. This was her first litter. An average litter is usuall 3 to 6 but can be more or less. My other cat just had a kitten and she only had one. This wasn’t her first litter though. I believe her first litter she had 4 or 5. So from my experience with many litters of kittens 4 or 5 is average. Good luck with the kittens and give mommy-to-be a big kiss for me.

My cat Sriuen had 5 her first litter.
