How many criminals consider consequences before committing a crime?

Rush_Informer01: How many criminals consider consequences before committing a crime?
I am looking for a credible source or statistic showing how many criminals actually think about the law, and consequences of their actions before they commit a crime. I’m trying to add something to my speech to support that gun laws don’t discourage criminal acts.

I guess you should go to jail and interview the criminal minds to get your answers.

How would such a statistic be obtained? Those that do think about consequences and subsequently decide to avoid committing a crime simply become uncountable. Thus any argument based on such a flawed statistical basis is of questionable value.

Considering the average criminal robs the local 7-11 with a mask and a gun and gets $ 20, what THOUGHT do you think goes into that??

Now, IF guns were illegal, like they are in Canada for example you don’t see many people robbing 7-11s with GUNS..they use garden hoes and things like that!!

Criminal acts are going to take place no matter what the laws are. WHY? peole who are desperate for crack and need like $ 500 per day don’t have any other choice.

Personal opinion here. Why would you think that more than a handful of criminals have a firm and realistic understanding of what is going to happen if they are caught? They either do it out of sheer desperation or out of complete ignorance of the consequences or because they’re just plain crazy. Sorry i don’t know any credible sources to back up my opinion.

show several cases where the criminal had ample warning of the consequences, and then did the crime anyway. such as their prior arrests. hard criminals usually have extensive histories. maybe talk to the police or even try to get an interveiw with someone in the d.a.’s office. a real killer though would be to visit some real hard ones who are doing hard time and interveiw them. i’m sure they’d be glad to tell their story to anyone on the outside.

A very good question. I often wonder the same thing about the criminals in the white house.
