Lavanda: Can a criminal trial bring in statements of the accused from a civil trial?
As in the case of Casey Anthony in Florida. If she were to appear and answer questions in the civil lawsuit against her for deflaming the character of Zenaida Gonzalez, could her answers be used against her in the criminal trial for the murder charges that she is up against? My understanding is that one cannot enter testimony from one jurisdiction into another jurisdiction’s hearings. Am I correct?
