GoodieGumDrops: How long does it take to convert to Judaism?
I would like to know how long it takes to convert to Judaism.
After sitting down and going over it in my head many times I will start the conversion very soon.
I’m also curious to know if any converts served in the IDF? I’m positive I will at some point after conversion.
Thank you.

It takes several months. There is much to learn. Talk to a rabbi, but be aware that he will turn you down the first couple of times you ask him about converting.
Israel has never ratified the Nonproliferation Treaty and the 1972 biological and toxic weapons convention, as opposed to for example Iran and Libya .
Anyone who is not Israeli is by the IDF ‘ someone which you can’t trust ‘.

You would most likely be required to serve in the IDF if you immigrate to Israel. I’ll leave those details and any corrections our more knowledgeable Jewish friends.
Ignore the hateful answers, sad cases really.
Answer by Leah R. FernandezIt depends on the movement. Orthodox Judaism and Conservative requires at least a year. Reform Judaism doesn’t have a set requirement. There isn’t a law over converts in the IDF. I had many friends who are converts in IDF. You have to be Israeli citizen though.Answer by moo
It depends on the branch of Judaism that you convert to. Keep in mind that Orthodox conversion is the most strict, but accepted by every branch of Judaism.
The process itself can take anywhere from months to several years: It really is based on the individual.
Yes converts have served in the IDF: All Israeli citizens do, if I recall correctly.
Answer by dowidhDepends how long it takes for you to impliment the necessary changes to your lifestyle and worldview.
Once the Rabbi supervising your conversion holds that you have fully and unconditionally embraced the Jewish way of life and mindset, you’ll convert.
But how long it will take to get there depends on yourself and the Rabbi. Some Rabbis like doing it within a year, others like taking more than that.
Answer by AnnOrthodox conversions take a minimum of two years according to the new guidelines. Women are not able to serve in the IDF if they are over 20 years old. I wanted to join too!
