Mrs. Military Wife โฟ: How long after a vaginal delivery were you able to have intercourse?
Pretty basic question.
Just wondering how long after a vaginal delivery you were able to have intercourse.
I am 3 weeks postpartum after a vaginal delivery, without any tares or an episiotomy. I feel like I’m ready, but just unsure if it’s safe or not.

Answer by due 01/25/10It varies by person.. my doctor has a 6 week policy but I know a girl who had sex 2 weeks after giving birth [her 3rd baby] so it really depends on your body but generally from what I hear it’s 6 weeks..Answer by Dani ~ #1 due April 29, 2010
Like everyone else said, it’s usually about 6 weeks, but everyone’s body is different. Just don’t push yours too soon.
There are always other ways to meet your and your husband’s needs other than straight intercourse ๐
Have fun and congrats.

Doctors advise 6 weeks after birth. But you may feel ready before then or you may not want it for much much later. You may find the sources below to be helpful.
There are conflicting views in the medical community as to whether or not you are at increased risk for infection during those early weeks after having given birth. Ultimately it is YOUR decision but I would tend to err on the side of caution. 6 weeks isn’t that long really and there are other ways to please your partner ๐
Answer by random ramblerSupposedly, you should wait for the okay from your doctor at your 6-week appointment. Some people are comfortable with it before then, and others wait longer. We waited 8 weeks because I didn’t feel ready. And it hurt for about 4 months after that. I guess I was just one of the unlucky ones! Hopefully it won’t be like that the next time around ๐Answer by Happy wife and mommy
Most doctors will tell you wait 6 weeks, but really its up to you, when you feel comfortable doing it. Make sure you use protection because your chances of being pregnant are much higher right after birth,Answer by tami

I had sex 3 weeks after a vaginal delivery with no tears and no epistomy , I was a little tender but all was great, just take it slow until you can see how it feels for you.
