Marc: How do you remotely shutdown a desktop computer from a laptop?
My desktop machine runs Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit and my laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. How do I remotely shutdown my desktop from my laptop? Sometimes my dad forgets to shutdown my desktop, I don’t want to go back downstairs just to shut it off.

bro download teamviewer i its free :
Team viewer is a program that let you go into your friends computer desktop. It is a bit laggy but it is cool. Adding on to the part with the password. No They can’t see your password. This only works when you are on you long on to your computer account. For games. No (example: rune scape) they can not see your password. It will be a bunch of “*’s”. All they can see is what you can see from your Monitor.
Answer by Mark NortonIt’s laziness like this that will one day make you a great Network Administrator. You really have potential, really, I’m serious.
Since you have Home Premium, I don’t think that you can use Remote Desktop as a host.
One thing you can do, as long as they are on the same network is to run VNC.

Answer by PlabomanoLOL, classic laziness… and we wonder why america is getting fatter… anyways. to answer your question.
Install VNC Server on your downstairs computer. (TightVNC) will do just fine and its free.
Then on your laptop install a VNC client (client just means viewer) The viewer connects to the server to tell the server what to do. In your case you want to shutdown the downstairs computer. The Tight VNC client will be perfect in your case.
Next just set it up following directions. remember to connect to downstairs computer, must use the downstairs ip addresss.
After that all is well. you can do anything on that computer from your laptop upstairs, including shutting it down. hehe. have fun… you can even play pranks
Answer by Harold PietersIf the computers are on the same network.
Open the CMD prompt and type “shutdown -i”
Add the other computer with add button. Ensure to type some characters in comment field and click OK.
Since this is a workgroup network you may need to add the same administrator user account on both machines.
To successfully execute the Shutdown Computer command all affected computers must have the Windows Firewall Remote Administration exception enabled.
Many tools can help you. You can search LanHelper on Google. This tool scans LAN and shutdown, or delay shutdown via schedule.
