duckbackatthestore: I am trying to install a sound driver, but it says I do not have “hardware” installed? What hardware?
I restored my computer. Before I restored it, my speakers worked. Now I am trying to install a new sound driver, but when I try, it says “Cannot find harware. Install hardware and try again.” What harware is it talking about?
My computer is a Dell, Windows XP. I tried installing a lot of Dell sound drivers from a lot of different sites, but all of them said the same thing. What should I do?

At first, you should check your dell moder before downloading drivers. then you can check the model of chipset (via, silicon, ati, realtec etc.) While You have the drivers that do not fit to your hardware, u won’t be able to install them. Use lavalys everest trial version to find out what sound card You have, and then download drivers. www.lavalys.com
You’re either trying to load the wrong drivers, or your sound card is no longer recognized by the computer. Right-click on “My Computer”, go to the bottom to “Properties”, then open the “Harware” tab and click on the “Device Manager” button. Under “Sound, video, and game controllers” you should have a device listed with a yellow bang. If that’s gone, you’re in trouble. If it’s there, it’s just a matter of finding out which sound device you have. I’d call Dell if I were you.
