CharWiz: Why does “Safely Remove Hardware” appear by the clock everytime I turn on my computer.?
The only things I have connected to my computer through USB cables are: keyboard, mouse, webcam and monitor.
This is a brand new computer.

This will appear any time you have things connected by USB to your computer. It allows you to “EJECT” the hardware safely before unplugging it. This is safer, especially in the case of external hard drives, card readers, etc where there could be loss of data.
Toodles!

I get it with my camera. It disappears when I unplug it.Answer by redsoxer
Does your computer, camera or printer have an integrated card reader? If either one does, then that’s why. Anytime a usb mass storage device is connected, you’ll get that icon near the clock.Answer by David Computer Guy
This wil be your webcam, this “safely remove” is a bit of an old MS legacy feature with the plug and play software as you can simply plug in and pull out the USB connections.
All it is telling you is that you have removable hardware connected, at least you have the satisfaction of knowing that Windows is detecting your hardware.
