How do you “put down” a fish?

Sassy: How do you “put down” a fish?
Someone mentioned this in another question I had asked on yahoo and made it sound like it was a difficult process. Maybe Im being too callous since I lived on a farm growing up but what are the “right” ways to put down a fish?

The quickest, most humane way is to put it into boiling water…I had to do it once, and I felt terrible, but the poor fish was put out of its misery.

what we do is pop them in the freezer and they go to sleep in there. i was told this by a vet nurse, as its the most human way as they die quickly and basically painlessly.

Put the fish in a container/ziploc bag filled with water and put it in the freezer. The fish won’t feel any pain.

one good blow to the head should do it if you want it to be instant. I feed mine to my big fish then its instant and natural

i read this once in a boo called how to take care of your aquarium.they said that the most effective way is to actually stomp it i a hard floor.like hit it,just like that.it’s the most recommended one.not boiling water…

use the ‘clove oil’ method. do NOT boil, do NOT freeze, and good god do NOT use vodka!! all these cause pain in the last moments of the fishs life. the clove oil is used to put the fish to sllep, and he cannot feel a thing and then you simply put him in some water in the freezer and he freezes. he never even feels a thing, except a lil groggy wen u first put the clove oil.

if it’s not too big. Throw it on the floor,against the wall,…
much less trouble than freezing, boiling and clove oil and just as effective. Imagin getting hit in the head by a speeding train, you might feel some pain but it’s over in a millisecond. Just make sure you throw it hard enough, really put your best effort into it. If it’s a big fish try a different method, if its big and you dont throw hard enough it might linger around for a few more moments and that would be cruel
