ministryod: How do you actually good while dancing?
I’ve been dancing ballet since the age of 3 (I’m 13 now) and I’ve been learning hip hop + street jazz for year now. But I don’t like looking at myself when I’m dancing. I think I look too fat and that I don’t look natural when I dance. Is there any way to like, improve my steps so that I can look better when I dance? I used to love ballet but now I hate getting into my leotard cos it makes me look wide.

Practice more and try working out too?
I don’t do ballet or hiphop or jazz, but all the people I know who do (almost all my friends) also work out and run, etc.
And why would you do dance if not to make yourself feel good or pretty? If you’re not enjoying it, maybe you’ve changed and you just don’t want to do it anymore.
Answer by Jenn MA problem that all of us dancers go through – it’s a part of the art…. we are constantly criticizing and critiquing our bodies because our body IS our art.
You have to look in the mirror to make it better. The only way you are going to get better is to look at yourself in the mirror. Watch those around you, see what they’re doing right and wrong… listen to your instructor’s critiques and watch what your body is doing as compared to hers.
If you are having problems with your body being “wide” as you say, work on a healthy diet and toning up those looser areas of your body and you’re sure to feel better.
Answer by Tiny DancerI hate looking at myself in the mirror when im dancing too.
I don’t like the way my legs look in tights.
I only look okay when im at the barre, since im turned to the side. Plus all the other dancers are super skinny, it sucks sometimes..and it’s even given me bad habits.
But it’s never really effected my love for ballet.
