: How to raise cooking skill in Sims 3?
I am so used to the other Sims games where you can just read a cooking book and get it up easily. I tried to that but I can only find recipe books which barely raise my level, also cooking tv shows don’t raise it much either.

Note: to jump your Sim to level 1 take a class first! You can take a class by going to map view and locating the Restaurant Icon. There should be an option to attend cooking class for 500 or so simoleons.
In the Sims 3 to the fastest way to level up is by reading a Cook Book, not to be confused with a “recipe”.
-Cook Books can be found at the library or be bought at the bookstore.

I find it goes faster if you make your Sim go to the library. By going to the library your Sim gets a buff in their moodlet tray that says “Power Study” (ONLY WHILE YOUR SIM REMAIN AT THE LIBRARY) that increases your Sims reading speed. The moodlet doesn’t work if your Sim comes to the library then goes home, your Sim must be at the library or on library grounds for the buff to work. There are 3 cook books, One for Sims with cooking level(s) 1-3, the second for level(s) 3-6 and the third for level(s) 6-9. The last level you reach by cooking- naturally.
Note: For even faster reading, It helps to have the “Bookworm” Trait.
-The cook books can be bought at the bookstore, and are as follows, “Cooking Vol. 1: Too Much Salt, “Cooking Vol. 2: Why You Need Baking Soda”, and “Cooking Vol. 3: Yummy and Delicious”. The price, for the first second and third in order are, 50,500, and 750 simoleons.
-Recipes are different than cook books, knowing a recipe is like knowing a word in the dictionary. Basically you just know how to make it, but it doesn’t raise your skill just your knowledge. Reading all of these books will take time, but this is the quickest way to level up your Sim. There are also books for, Logic, Gardening, Handiness, Charisma, Fishing, Photography*, Martial arts* Sheet music, for music for beginners from level 5. Logic, Gardening, Handiness, and Charisma, Level your Sim up in the same way. They all have 3 books Leveling your Sim up from levels 1-3, 3-6, 6-9. (*) star marker are for, or from, the expansion packs.
Other than that make your Sim cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner all the time. It also helps and goes faster if you have the “Natural Cook” trait. In addition to this using a “Tri-Forge Stove” (or other stove with learning attribute) you can get a buff called “learning quickly” which improves there cooking skill faster (while cooking).

Recipe books won’t raise your skills at all. They just teach you how to prepare a new dish.
-You can read cooking skill books.
-After you have level 1 cooking, you can get xp from watching the cooking channel on TV
-Cook. I like to go to the park and make hotdogs over and over. They’re cheap to make and your house won’t catch on fire because you aren’t cooking at home.
If you still think it’s too slow and you want your cooking skills handed to you, then you can download a mod that will speed up the rate at which you gain XP. If you do that, then you need to remember to update it if you get an expansion pack that adds new skills.
Answer by Shahafyou can raise the sims cooking skill by reading a cooking book that you can obtain in the library.
