Chloe: Can anyone give me a simple explanation between “hardware” and “software” on a computer?
I just am so not computer savvy. I basically just not how to use the internet, e-mail, and download photos and that’s it. Anyways! I have a Dell laptop at home and my warranty says it only covers “hardware” issues and not “software” problems. They want extra money for those problems. It is frustrating. Thanks for explanations on the differences.

umm…well i learned that hardware are like tangible things, like the cpu and the monitor. but im not sure how to explain what software is.
i’m thinking that hardware is like physical and you can touch and see it. and software is the information on the disk ect.Answer by Gagan
Software is anything that can be electronically stored. Such as Wordpad, a computer game, or any program that a computer has. Hardware, on the other hand, is anything that you can physically touch. Such as a monitor, mouse, keyboard, or the fan inside a computer, the motherboard, e-t-c. So what the warranty covers is any damage done to the laptop screen, the keyboard on it, or the components inside it, not any problem with the programs inside the computer itself, such as the screen is too big, or a program that came with the computer doesn’t work.
You can remember this by HARDware is something that is HARD (I know that sounded SOOO wrong), such as the keyboard. SOFTware is something fragile, and electronically stored. You get what I’m saying? No…? Oh well…
