Gold: How can learn about ancient religions like Mithraism and such besides the major world religions?
Is there some kind of book where I can learn this? The reason I would like to learn them is because Christianity has pagan roots, and I would like to learn those roots in order to see Christianity for what it is. The same thing for every other religion. It was influenced by older religions before it.

There is a book I’ve read cover to cover. The Secrets of the Ages by Manley Hall. It gives a brief synopsis of most of the religions and spiritual philosophies that have taken place since recorded history. It’s very interesting.

Try The Mysteries of Mithras: The Pagan Belief That Shaped the Christian World by Payam Nabarz. I also highly recommend The World’s Religions by Houston Smith (get the illustrated copy if you can). It doesn’t concentrate on the Pagan roots of Christianity, but is an excellent book on different religious traditions.Answer by Saul Hammond
I dont know specifically which other religions to point or direct you to but I can tell you that I have studied the works of earlier Egyptologists : Gerald Massey …. Gerald Massey basically talks about the past religions where christianity was taken up from and gives a lot of information on the specific scriptures in the bible and where they came up with those scriptures from. He talks about how the Jews had a different Jesus than the one the bible talks about and how there are two different Jesus’s that the bible talks about inside of it because of the two different sources that it pulled from to come up with each of the scriptures. He also gets into details on the astrological concept as the Pagan religion describes the roots of the Messiahs and so forth …..you can try checking this site out below and see if some of Gerald Massey’s lectures may help you out a bit … hope it helps …

when you get into the site , click on Gerald Massey’s name , then click on ” Prose ” at the top of the page …after that , scroll down and check out some of his lectures ..He has some specifically on Christianity and its roots as far back as when it possibly began….
