Only by getting it a sex (dna) test from your vet. It’ll run you about 30 bucks, give or take, and is painless to your conure. There’s no other way to know without testing.
PS? A green and yellow conure..? Do you have a Sun as well..?
Answer by JazaUnfortunatley conures are monomorphic. Which means that they cannot be sexed by the eye. (100%) Some bird experts can spot a male or a female if that particular bird exhibits certain strong features. But then again there are exceptions to the rule so it can never be 100%
To be completley sure you need to get your bird DNA sexed, this is done by either plucking two or three chest feathers from the bird or blood testing by clipping a nail back to the vein and sending off a blood sample.
I know of two places that do DNA sexing. Avian Biotech, i’m in the UK and there is a headquarters here and there is also one in America. I feather test, go to the website where they will send you free sampling kits. Place one of your birds chest feathers (NOT a blood feather) inbetween your thumb and index finger and neatly pull it out, I usually put 3 or 4 in just to be sure, send it off and you can get your results via email or post or both! I know of breeders that use.Molecular Diagnostic Services in Africa, both are similary priced. £14 for feather testing by Avian Biotech.
