Christy P: What sort of pet is best for efficiency apartment?
I am about to move into a small efficiency apartment (the living room and sleeping area is together separated by a partition) and would like to get a pet but didn’t know what kind. I’m not good with fish and I don’t know how well a cat would do, he might try to run away whenever I open the door. What do you suggest?

Cats are great pets, in any size living condition. As long as they get toys, loving, food, and a clean litterbox, they will be quite content. I don’t stress it as much now that I live in a house, but be sure to scoop your cats litterbox after every time they go. It’s not a bother and it will keep your apartment smelling fresh. Go for a cat. Rodents and fish are boring.
I like the last answer…cats are great pets and if you love and care for them you cant go wrong with them…they might even be more a friend then dogs can be in some cases. Good luck!Answer by TRUTH WILL SET U FREE
I am sure you have heard this one if not here goes. I have a 2bedroom apt that I share with my two year old and it’s about 1100 sq ft pretty nice size apartment and the only room is for our wonderful pet fire who by the way is a male Betta. It’s easy and it’s safe and less noise and less mess, and fair to him and neighbors. A dog is better when you have space and a yard. Many may say a cat, definitely needs to be something small, and a pet that will not cause much damage to your apartment, because you may have to pay in the end.Answer by weirdsnail07

I’m about to move into a small apartment, and I’m planning to get a pair of rats. They’re intelligent and relatively clean, and I won’t have to pay an extra $ 25/month for them like I would a cat or dog. Don’t just get one rat unless you can spend a lot of time with it–they’re very social. There are also guinea pigs (which are not as clean, or intelligent, but they’re sweet) and other small, furry animals. You could always go for a gecko or another type of reptile, though that wouldn’t be as cuddly.Answer by bree bree

A bird could make a good pet for that small of an apartment. You could get a cat and try to make it an indoor cat and if you can’t manage to keep him inside all the time, make sure it has a collar and it could be an indoor/outdoor cat.Answer by Heidi
How about a couple of mice, get them when they’re young and handle them as they grow up, then they’ll be used to being handled and they’ll be used to you so they won’t bite. If you get female mice they don’t smell much at all and mice are very easy to look after and cheap too. They are cute and can have some amusing habits and traits. There are many different types of mice you can get, I personally prefer the Persian Mouse which is small and round and has soft curly hair.
If you’re not into rodents you could try anything like a bearded dragon, a budgie, a turantula, hermit crabs, turtles, cockatiels, or my personal favourite, finches. They are small and cute and have the most beautiful voices. They’re also easy to care for and don’t cost as much as larger birds.
Just remember, think of the lifestyle you have and how much time you’ll have to care for the animal and how much money you have to spare. Reptiles require a bit of money to obtain a license and the right equipment. Also, remember what you’re looking for in a pet, are you looking for a companion or just something to give you something to care for?
